New Menu for the Festive Season!

Christmas has come early at our house!! Today we’ve launched our new Festive Menu, celebrating all the goodness of our winter larder and full of delicious dishes to warm you through! We’ve got something for everyone, including: our favourite Piatto Della Nonna – our festive sharing platter full of Italian flavour and amore from Milano and our dedicated vegetarian and gluten free menu so that everyone can enjoy an authentic taste of Italy this Christmas. An early Buon Natale from all the team at Centotre, we look forward to seeing you soon!

Centotre was HitListed as a highly-recommended Edinburgh breakfast destination – open from 7.30 daily (10am on Sundays), Live music venue – with our Jazzmain Trio joining us again this summer for sophisticated Sunday sessions! Like sister establishment The Scottish Cafe and Restaurant, Centotre promises to serve ‘happy food’, their term for food made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients. True to their word, Victor and Carina Contini work with a large band of Scottish businesses and an impressive list of suppliers can be found on their website.

The interior of their George Street restaurant is also striking, a former bank with high, ornate ceilings, tall pillars and pristine white tables. Perhaps to cater for surrounding businesses Centotre opens nice and early at 7.30am for breakfast servings of pastries , rolls and even waffle dishes. The evening a la carte menu features pastas, pizza, salads and main courses. A starter of silky gnocchi is surrounded by cream, sprigs of dill and smoked salmon. A main course of venison arrives with a tangy horseradish dressing and grilled vegetables. Desserts at Centotre are worth saving room for, particularly a delightfully crunchy meringue filled with berries and cream.

It’s a little early, but we just can’t wait! Our new May menu is out today!

We’ve added new season asparagus, brought back our special Spigola (Sea bass) by special request and we are pleased to introduce our new selection of extra virgin olive oils, sourced direct from Italy. Victor has carefully chosen these oils from a few of his favourite vineyards where we also source our wines. Or new wine list will also be out soon – watch this space!

We’ve refreshed our menu and filled it full of the flavours of spring! We’ve kept your favourites and added few extra dishes to celebrate the new season!

Scottish wood pigeon direct from Burnside Farm in the Tweed Valley served with fresh local spinach and pear; Fresh local surf clams served with our homemade Gnocchi, spring garlic and Pecorino Romano; West coast scallops with spaghettini and pancetta; Scottish lambs liver with spring cabbage and creamy mashed potatoes; Whole lemon sole roasted on the bone with chargrilled fennel; Inverurie steak with hand-cut chips… to list a few!

Christmas Menu – Pasta (a little bit of sunshine)!

Just 4 more sleeps until our Christmas menu is out! We’re warming up your December with a Sicilian Specialty of ours – a little bit of sunshine! Pachino tomatoes, pine kernels, sultanas and our wonderful violet aubergines served with a chunky casareccia pasta. Yum! Order this as an intermediate course and make the party last even longer!

Christmas is coming! And our December menu is almost here! We’ve got some treats in store, but don’t worry we’ve kept your favourites.

Why not start your Christmas lunch or dinner with the Piatto della Nonna? It’s one of our most popular antipasti dishes and it’s perfect for sharing with your loved ones.

All our best flavours direct from Italy on one plate! Mozzarella di Bufala from Campagnia, Prosciutto di Parma, delicious Italian vegetables, marinated Italian olives, sun-dried Italian tomatoes, crispy fresh rocket leaves and Parmigiano Reggiano, served with some lightly fried calamari, zucchini and pepperoni – Heaven on a piatto!

Don’t worry if you missed lunch, our new dinner menu is just as delicious!

The Autumn harvest has bought us some fantastic ingredients direct from the Milano Markets. Our exclusive delivery includes Italian artichokes, borlotti beans, figs, pears and cima di rape to name but a few. Supporting Italy but complimented by Scotland’s fantastic larder, we use only Scottish-water fish, the best Scottish beef and game and wonderful organic root vegetables from East Lothian.
The dark nights may be getting longer, but our plates will be full of fresh flavours to brighten your palate! Health and happiness to you all!
